A poor diet can also be a significant cause of high blood pressure. Choose foods that are low in saturated fat and sodium as these are leading dietary factors with high blood pressure. Go with your gut on which foods you should be eating. If you're not sure about the right diet for you, ask your doctor or a dietitian.
Consider reading food labels before you buy or eat anything. Most foods today have food labels that tell not only the ingredients but will also tell you how much fat, how much sodium, plus how many calories are in food you're considering.
Consult Your Physician
There are many causes of high blood pressure and they range from a genetic factor to the lifestyle you live. You can help your chances of never getting it in the first place by prevention and making better lifestyle choices. Consult your doctor and ask he/she to check your blood pressure.
Make sure you're in the clear and, if you aren't, ask your physician what you can do to bring your levels down. Many people live with high blood pressure but the risks of not controlling it may be serious. The best thing you can do is prevent it in the first place. You should be curbing those activities that cause high blood pressure in the first place.
