Obesity is a disorder that manifests through being overweight. It is usually calculated by the Body Mass Index or BMI. It is an especially alarming ailment that has become a growing problem in America. Childhood obesity is becoming a major disease.
Statistics indicate that there has been a drastic increase in child obesity over the past two decades. This is a very worrying factor for parents as well as for the obese children. One major cause of concern is that from obesity there are a variety of diseases that will develop. And, some of these can be life threatening.
Child Obesity Controls: Eat Right And Exercise
There are many causes for obesity in children. The most prominent is overeating and lack of physical activity. Child obesity and fitness needs to be approached and changes made gradually. This should be done with an expert's advice, such as your doctor and/or a personal trainer. One of the disorders that develop in obesity are cardiovascular diseases that affect the blood circulation. It is critical to control the problem, but practicing child obesity and fitness can be dangerous if not done right and under supervision of a health professional.
Special child obesity and fitness programs are available. They vary depending on the physical condition your child has, his or her age, and the present weight. If your child is diagnosed as obese, it is essential you enroll him/her in a child obesity and fitness program. Do this in order to start reducing weight as soon as possible. If the obesity disorder is genetic in your family lineage, your child may have to be practicing a fitness program throughout life in order to be able to maintain his or her weight.

Statistics show that childhood obesity is the hardest to treat and cure effectively. It is extremely hard to reduce excessive weight during adolescence do to general lack of control during that period of life. Obesity can start from overeating and lack of exercise and can be deepened by stress. This stress usually happens during the adolescence years when the child is more aware of his or her appearance. Stress can also come from problems in the family, such as financial and medical issues. Family problems can reflect on the already existing disorder and make the obesity worsen.
To Curb Child Obesity Take Action Now
Regular checkups with your family physician will keep you aware of the weight gain in your child. You should also be aware as a parent of the child's ideal weight according to his or her height and try to adjust diet and encourage exercise maintain their fitness at its optimum. If you have obesity in the family, you should be twice as careful. But don't become obsessive over the problem as that can also trigger stress and your child may start eating too much when you are not looking.
Food is comforting, however, you must be very open with your child about their problem. Always discuss the necessity of eating right and exercising in order to maintain the desired weight and to prevent the health problems that this condition can bring on.
